It is quite common for toddlers to suffer from constipation.
Since toddler constipation is almost always related to their diet, it can be treated at home with simple temporary changes to your toddler's diet. There are other instances which may cause temporary constipation, such as potty-training pressures and emotional life events, but fussy eating habits are more likely to be the cause. Here are some general tips on toddler constipation treatment: -
Sometimes toddlers can become constipated because they are not getting enough fibre in their diet. Is your toddler getting enough fibre? If you think your toddler isn't getting enough fibre, gradually increase her fibre intake. You need to do this gradually because too much fibre too quickly can cause gas and bloating, which can be rather painful. Give your toddler high-fibre foods such as wholemeal bread (instead of white bread which has very little fibre and too much sugar), wholegrain cereal such as rolled oats (perhaps you can add any of the fruits in heavy syrup mentioned above to sweeten the cereal), baked beans and other legumes.
