Taking an active part in fun toddler activities will charm your toddler for years to come. Your toddler is a curious, creative, and above all, active little creature who needs to be both physically and mentally stimulated throughout the day. It is common for toddlers between the ages of two and three especially, to go through huge developmental changes and often express these as what you might call, "mood swings".
On how many occasions has your toddler been a happy, cooperative little angel one minute, and the next she is a whingeing, whiney little troublemaker? Well, you're probably aware by now that this is pretty normal behaviour for a toddler, and by the time she is about 5 or 6 years old she will eventually grow out of it. Not only do toddlers change noticeably from day to day, they each have different abilities (just like adults and everybody else). Just because one toddler may be the same age as another, doesn't mean that she will have the ability to do the same things as the other. How easy is it sometimes to make comparisons between one toddler and the next, but really it is best to avoid comparing your toddler's abilities to other toddlers. Toddlers can sometimes sense this, and it not only affects her confidence, it may put some unneeded pressure on her and cause stress. Your toddler will learn whatever there is to be learnt in her own good time. This should allow you to evaluate what level she's at, and then relax knowing that it will happen when the time is right.

Oh, yes, everything. This 'exploring' and 'investigating' allows your toddler to discover and learn new things - which make her feel proud and gain a sense of independence. So perhaps you should think twice before you yell at your toddler for spilling the entire packet of couscous all over the floor - if she was able to get it out of the pantry herself, had the opportunity to run her little fingers through it and go away knowing the feel and texture of uncooked couscous - then I think it's worth cleaning up the mess! (Well for now, anyway!)
Your toddler needs to be given opportunities to do things by herself whenever possible so as to gain independence. But in order to get the most out of this important learning stage in your toddler's life, you have to set aside some special time to do fun toddler activities with her. Here are some general suggestions for toddler activities: -
